Tenzin Palom – RECE (Centennial College)
Tenzin celebrates a life of love and learning: she grew up attending a boarding school, where she nurtured and interacted with students ranging in age from 3 – 18 years old, learning to take care of the younger children while developing valuable life skills. This path led to her successfully following her childhood dream of working at a daycare. After graduating from her program in 2010, Tenzin gained experience at several Toronto-area daycares before coming home to Rowanwood in March 2011. Tenzin really enjoys working with her co-staff and the lovely children, teaching them the joys of laughter and good meals with her love of comedy and cooking. Through her love and loyalty to everyone at Rowanwood, she demonstrates her belief that honesty and dedication are the key factors which truly lead one to live a happier and healthier life.
Natalie Augerinos - BA, ECA (University of Toronto)
Natalie is excited to join the Rowanwood team and bring her love and kindness to the children. Past experience includes daycares, camps and work as a nanny as Natalie has always followed her passion for inspiring children and love of education. Other passions include the outdoors and nature, water play and crafts, as well as languages (especially French) and cultural diversity. One of Natalie favourite former positions was as a nanny where she got the joy of raising children and being part of the family. Rowanwood is a great fit for Natalie, as she can combine all her passions and bring them to the kids, as well as be part ALL the Rowanwood families and the family of staff as well.
Annie Chan – founder, co-owner (B.A. University of Toronto; English/Latin)
Annie Chan is the founder of Rowanwood. She started the center in 2007 to create an alternative to mainstream daycare. Annie approached creating Rowanwood with a passion to create a space where her own kids would thrive. After visiting countless daycare centers and being unable to choose one, Annie set out to create her own vision of what a center could be. Tireless research on early childhood education and the daycare business, a passion for her vision, and endless work have brought Rowanwood to life.
Annie has loved and cared for kids all her life – as a mother and aunt, and now through Rowanwood as its founder and co-owner. Her love of English Literature and the written word brings a passion for promoting literacy. She and Laura both envision Rowanwood as a stronghold in the community and a part of happy childhood memories for the kids as they grow up.
Laura-Jean Bernhardson – co-owner (B.F.A. Concordia University)
Laura came to partner with Annie after having her son at Rowanwood for the center’s start-up years. She brought her experience in art, education and running her own small businesses to inject a new energy into every aspect of the daycare.
Being involved in Rowanwood has become a true passion for Laura, and she is honoured to partner with Annie and to work with the kids at the center.
